Why hello there party people!
How are we this lovely Monday? Have we started our week right?? My week is off to a rocking start and will continue with me helping to move offices for my work; my first blogger meet up/industry meet up and having two of my friends back from their overseas trips.

You are not mistaken, there was no NMM last week, but can you really blame a girl?? I was recovering from a bruised arms, partial deafness and the awesomeness that was Kanye West/Kasabian/Das Racist/Odd Future etc etc etc. IE recovering from Big Day Out, which was amazing. Anyway, enough of that.. here is some NEW MUSIC!!!!

1. PRETTY LIGHTS - WE MUST GO ON

Lets start of smooth and mellow with Pretty Lights. I love these guys, they make some really pretty music. If you're into instrumentals, this is the one to listen to. It has sampling, old record lyricism and some new production mixed in to a beautiful concoction that is their new single, We Must Go On.

2.THE INTERNET - FAST LANE

Although the harps at the beginning elude to a airy fairy soundtrack, what comes next is far from that. The soulful keys and vocals takes me back to the 90s. Whats more surprising, that the track comes from duo; The Internet. Who are proudly part of the Odd Future family. The Internet is comprised of Syd Tha Kid and Matt Martian, and together they are releasing Purple Nakes Ladies. And I think Syd Tha Kid says it right when she describes her music sounds Stevie Wonder'ish... but on acid. I dig this very very much, so I am really looking forward to the EP.

Fun fact: Syd Tha Kid before she was the androgynous female DJ for OFWGKTA was in fact the fast talking 12 year old from Thats So Raven.

3. THEE MIDNITERS - I FOUND A PEANUT

Alright so we've settled in to the list, lets get rocking to another era. Technically this isnt a new song, its by Thee Midnighters who are hailed as one of the earliest Chicano groups to have a hit in US. And I just cant get enough of this track. "I found a peanut" is such a silly title, but the old nostalgic 60s rock is just toooo good to resist. I'm sure the title was slang for something much more sinister... I must say though, I dont air guitar to much, but old nostalgic 60s rock is my preferred genre to whiplash myself voluntarily.

4. KISHI BASHI - IT ALL BEGAN WITH A BURST

So much love for this band right now. Kishi Bashi is a side project of famed violinist K Ishibashi (who has worked with Katy Perry, Regina Spektor and such...). Reading violinist should make the beautiful violin additives in this song more sense. If I knew that learning the violin at a young age (which I did, lasted three years) would lead to make cool music like Kishi Bashi's then I might reconsidered those classes. And this song has it all for me: quirkiness, melodies and a good progressing beat. If you like the sound of this then definitely check out their other track Bright Whites.

5. ED SHEERAN & YELAWOLF - YOU DONT KNOW

Yelawolf scares me a little, his video clips doesn't help this either (who lights up cars at a house party???? You just aint baller unless you do I guess). But this song has converted me. Oh I'm not insane, I am 100% positive its cause of the sweet sounds of Ed Sheeran. But Yelawolf's harsh and sharp rap style really balances the track for me. I also have no doubt that the only reason this pairing exists is cause Atlantic Records (recently signed the UK Ed Sheeran) are trying to branch him to an US audience. And what better way to do that than to get him to score a track with Yelawolf. But I aint complaining, my iTunes thanks you Atlantic Records for the awkward collaboration.

In other news, this shizz is hilarious, shame on you Bussa for collaborating with what I hope is a joke. And I cant make sense of this (apparently long awaited and anticipated) track I dont know if I like it or if I dont?? < Thats probably not a good thing either. Freaking love the editing in the video though.

MENSWEAR FALL 2012

Oh wow, I am really having a moment for menswear this week. I feel like I have lost touch with the world of high fashion... well the world of fashion that isn't street style anyway. But being introduced to the Style.com Mobile App has changed all that. So I would like to take a moment to froth over the amazing Fall 2012 season that has just walked the runway.

In particular, Jill Sander (my favourite for the season!) John Galliano and YSL. Honourable mentions to Burberry Prorsum for its reliable English goodness (and for putting the polka dot on a man.. oh so sexy!), Lanvin for their mob inspired business wear, and Bottega Venetta as I am loving the label's take on deconstructed garments.

The below is a concoction of BLACK!, leather, the roaring 20s and amazing accessories. And thats exactly how winter/fall clothing should be taken into consideration. John Galliano really has his way with 1920s; such beautiful silhouettes while Jill Sander plays with the notion of leather lunch bags. Oh yes, shall we let the consumerism continue with YSL's leather on leather on leather pairings? Y(SL) Yes we shall... And can we please pause for those beautiful gold plated mens shoes....

NAILS: CRIME BY LIME

We have been colour charting at work lately, and I have re-found (is that a word??) my favourite colour. And have found the name for it. The colour is Las Palmas and its a beautiful mix of tropical, neon and fressssssssh like the Prince. Refound because I was obsessed with lime green when I was a young child.

I had a lime green bag, couch, desk, jelly flats, journal, etc etc etc. But then, like many, grew out of my 90s psychedelic.. Pepper Ann watching childhood and appreciated more "sensible" colours.

However now I have a nail polish that matches a close shade to gorgeous Las Palmas. Hot Tropical by Sportsgirl - a cool $2.94. Ohhhh yeahhhh.

COLONY SUNGLASSES: HEAVEN ON EARTH

I have two words for these beautiful crystal beauties: magnifique et tre chic. Oui Oui. Designed by Jessica Shipard (local Brisbane talent, woo!) from Colony Collective and handmade with care and love by Roger Henley in Adelaide. A perfect match.

These beautifully crafted pieces, named the Geodes Sunglasses**, are made from crystal acetate (you can google that one) and comes in 6 different colours; my favourite the Turquoize and Smokey Quartz. So so so so pretty.

**Geodes (Greek γεώδης - ge-ōdēs, "earth-like") are geological secondary sedimentary structures which occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic rocks.

A brilliant thing the internet.

1. PLUTO JONZE - PLASTIC BAG IN A HURRICANE

Another Triple J find! And digging it. Mostly for the awesome sampling work, taking me back to early 2000s with those. Pleasantly surprised to find out that Pluto Jonze is Australian - he had an English vibe going on for me. But this makes me excited, hopefully I can catch live one of these days!

2. LUCY ROSE - MIDDLE OF THE BED

Its an inoffensive song, with a catchy tune. At some parts Lucy Rose reminds me of a mixture of Kimbra/Bertie/Florence - but this could just be me over analysing. Lucy Rose is set to be the one to watch for 2012. And I totally agree. She is pretty freakin adorable and make some smooth tunes. So here's to you Lucy Rose.

3. ALT-J - FITZPLEASURE

So in love with Alt+J right now. Just goes to show that if you dig hard enough you will find gem of a band/songs/artists to fall in love with time after time. I have only heard the stuff from them thats around the inter webs, but I can't find a song I don't like. They are all my cup of tea... a bit of experimental, a bit of rock, and some ethnic sounding vibes. Yes please! And such a cool band name... "∆"

4. HE-ROBUST - FACEBOOK LIFT
Aaahhh.. just in time for some instrumental fix. And its such a goooooooood one from He-Robust. And its really complimenting the weather we're having today in BNE. Smooth with a nice beat. I love listening to instrumentals like this on a walk or cleaning. It just really calms me down.

5. LIANNE LA HAVAS - NO ROOM FOR DOUBT

Now I have saved the best for last. And what a good one this track is. Lianne La Havas is gorgeous and oh so talented. She has the best skin I have seen on a Youtube screen and her voice is so much better live than it is recorder. I know! In a world where auto tune is acceptable and lip synching is justified, Lianne La Havas is a breath of fresh talent. I am not gonna babble one, cause I just want you to hit play. I have chosen to go for her track No Room For Doubt (even though I am in love with her whole set list) and I've gone for the live recording instead of the EP version. You'll hear why.

Just finished voting in the Triple J's Hottest 100. Woo! I must say voting for this, and waiting for the countdown to come out on Australia Day - makes me feel super patriotic! The idea that the whole nation (or the large subset that listens to Triple J) are contributing their favourite tracks to a CD is an exciting thought to me : )

NEWMUSICMONDAY: WALLPAPER, LEFTBOY, BENHOWARD, CHETFAKER

GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING BLOGOSPEHERE!
It is most definitely a New Monday, so here are some definite New Music. I've got quite a few random sources, but hey thats what its all about isn't it?

1. WALLPAPER - BLAKE GRIFFININ'

Alright, so I can't quite figure out Wallpaper. I think the dude has some amazing production skills and makes some really catchy tunes - you might actually know his tune STUPiDFACEDED - but they all border on the line of comedy. But there is definitely a market for this. Where you get some clips of cool tunes, you also get a balance of some LMFAO sounding noise. Blake Griffinin' is hilarious if you follow the NBA. It has some pretty cool references to Blake Griffin (duh!) and Scotty Pippin : )

2. LEFT BOY - OUTRO

**Warning, there is some heavyyyyy swearing in this track.
The more I find out about this guys, the more I am digging Left Boy's vibe in general. His music is super catchy, and reminds me of Asher Roth/Wax. The video clip to OUTRO more than anything got me really. If you're a big slo-mo and texture film fan, than this one is for you. Super cool. I'm currently editing some films for work, so this has been a great inspiration.

3. BEN HOWARD - ONLY LOVE

**Live recording.
Slowing down the pace slightly, with some Ben Howard action. And what a super sweet song it is. Its non-offensive, lyrical and pretty. If you like folk music, then definitely add Ben Howard to your collection, although he hasn't officially released a whole album out yet : (. He has however been invited to play at South X South West this year, and I recommend anyone going to the Texas festival to head down and watch the dude. He is one super talented guy. Ben Howard, remember the name.

4. CHET FAKER - JEANS & WALLETS

Chet Faker, Melbourne dude with a brilliant beard. And some killer production skills. It nice to hear Australia embracing the more lo-fi inspired and experimental sounds. I heard this song once aaaages ago, and I was crazily trying to search for it by typing the lyrics into google "...saw your lips were parted, before the engine started..." and couldn't find anything. But trusty old Triple J came through this week, and I found out that the song belonged to Chet Faker : ) So now I am gonna go and hunt down more tracks!

TRENDY: TAUPE SHADOW

I was reading up articles on Cushnie Et Ochs (one of my favourite labels at the moment) in Nylon & The Coveteur and stumbled across their Fall/Winter 11 lookbook. And I was drawn to the make up - a simple Taupe smokey eye.

CUSHNIE ET OCHS • BACKSTAGE FT TAUPE MAKEUP

I definitely think, Taupe is the new grey when it comes to make up colours. And its literally the perfect colour. Why?? It suits every skin tone, eye shape and colour. Taupe is smouldering without being overpowering. The everyday black/grey smokey eye is fine, but to switch it up with some Taupe action, is just whats winter needs this year.

Taupe is also a great base to work off of. Its mixes well with neons (which is perfect as neon is of course the colour of the season at the moment). Now, I am not saying that you should run out and mix neon and taupe eyeshadows. But what I am saying is that taupe coloured eyes are a perfect pairing to a daring neon outfit or even a neon lip perhaps?

DOROTHY SCHUMACHER • RUNWAY

If you're not an eyeshadow person, then I would definitely recommend some nail polish action. Try a combination of taupe and neon. I like OPI's Over The Taupe & OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape together.

My pick for the perfect Taupe?? It has to be Satin Taupe from M.A.C.
Of course there are some dupes lying around Priceline, but you can't beat the perfect balance of smoulder and shimmer with M.A.C's Satin Taupe. For $26.00 a pan, this eyeshadow is amazing quality and will last a good six months (even if you wear it daily!). So its a steal really, for some trendy eyeshadow lovin.

FRIDAY ROUNDUP: KAREN BLANCHARD, DIY COFFEE SYRUPS, 100% HITS COMPILATION

Hi, how was your week? Mine saw my first week back to work. Loved it, I was going slightly stir crazy sitting at home :) So here we go; Friday Round Up.

I will most likely be bunkered down watching the finals for Brisbane International Tennis. But I am sure if you're looking for some popular culture to consume, here are my picks.

1. Watch Karen Blanchard (from Where Did U Get That)'s 2011 "In Review" video. Gives us an honest and first person insight to the life of a fashion blogger. Click here for the video, or alternatively the picture below.

2. DIY your own coffee syrups from A Beautiful Mess. Now I cannot tell you how much I have been digging caramel flavoured coffees. So now, thanks to A Beautiful Mess' tutorial on how to make my own, my coffee ban for the year will have to be lifted.

3. Buy and then listen 100% Hits: Nineties and Noughties Compilation CD. Ohhhhhh yeah. I haven't bought a compilation CD in over five years, but I will most definitely make an exception for this one. Its a perfect summer BBQ CD. This $23 CD comprises 48 tracks of pure 90s and 00s bliss.

TENNIS / BALL PARK MUSIC

Apologies for no NewMusicMonday post this week.
I was frolicking around Queensland Tennis Centre for some Brisbane International Tennis action.
I'm not the biggest sporting nut on this side of town, but I do love the tennis.

I booked some impromptu tickets to the night's match between Stosur v. Yakimova and Baghdatis v. Harrison. And off we went. We arrived a couple of hours earlier to find that Nova were putting on a small gig before the matches outside the stadium on the grass.

And just my luck, Monday night belonged to Ball Park Music.
AND THEY WERE AWESOME! I found watching the small gig, that I love Ball Park Music and a lot of their tracks. They have such great energy, and the lead vocalist (Sam Cromack) has one of the most killer voices. His jokes weren't too shabby either.

All in all it was an awesome Monday night with checking out Ball Park Music and checking into the first night of the Brisbane International. I got home at about 12:30AM, so didn't have time to whip up a NMM post. So hopefully the below tracks will ease you through the disappointment ;)

NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS.

**My anthem for the year.

And thats another year done and dusted. 2011 was huge for me. I completed one half of my dual degree, I transitioned from intern to (fully fledged senior) publicist and decided to give my hair the chop.

With such big changes taking place, 2012 is simply going to be insane. I will be graduating from a dual degree, I will (finally!) be going on my pilgrimage to NYC for two whole months, and be part of some amazing ventures which may include a trip to Europe. So I can honestly that to me, 2012 is not the end.. its only the beginning.

I hope that your year is filled with excitement, achievements and joy :)

Here is to another year of blogging and Amped+Dangerous attitude.

HAPPY 2012!!!

I almost always have resolutions for new years, and the past couple of years I have been pretty good in sticking to them. The goal is to keep your resolutions simple, achievable and inspiring. So I have crafted these three accordingly.

1. Save, Save, Save my monies. I'm going well, so I need to keep up the motivation. Cause I know that when I get to NYC, that I would much rather spend then having to worry that I might not have enough money to last me the trip.

2. Commit to better food choice. More of a hippy/healthy/in Vogue lifestyle. This means bringing in more fresh and alive foods (vegetables & fruits); less sugar and caffeine (I will miss you mochas..) and attempting to going vegan/vegetarian at least once or twice a week.. the progressing to three or four.
BUT NONE OF THAT SOYMILK SHIZZ.

3. Say YES to everything. I have some huge opportunities and adventures coming my way this year, and I want to take full advantage of them. So I'm going to say YES and not be afraid of it.

I love sharing resolutions, cause I feel that if I tell people, then I have to make them happen!
I also love hearing people's resolutions, cause its motivating!

So the name Robert Verdi might not mean much to a lot of people, but I bet his face does. Click here.
He recently collaborated with shoe brand Vans, where he designed a whole collection inspired by Hermes scarves and prints.These are possibly the most luxurious looking sneakers I have ever seen.

TRENDY: MID HEEL BOOTS

I see three types of shoes going all the rage at the moment. Creepers, Doc Martens & these mid heel boots. Yep, I definitely see that al three are winter shoes but hey, we Australians are always chasing our seasons! Why should it be any different with our footwear.

TOPSHOP CHELSEA BOOTS • RUMI'S ISABEL MARRANT BOOTS

Doc Martens have aways been around and kicking, so thats not really trending. Creepers, I think is a selective style - I love them on other people, but you won't catch me wearing them anytime soon ;)
But these super cute "am I a heel??; am I boot??" shoes are definitely a trending favourite.

The early adopters among us have found their pair possibly at Topshop in the name of the Allegra boot (no longer available but there are so many more fabulous options, pictured below), or perhaps the Dolcetta's over at Urban Outfitter's (picture below)**. But our middle laggers aren't left behind, thanks to Sportsgirl keeping their mid heel boots still on sale :)
**Is the ease of online shopping anymore evident than now...

These shoes most definitely remind me of Rumi Neely from Fashion Toast. I think she rocks these like no one else. Rumi has the perfect balance of western/boho with these shoes. So for inspiration as to what to ear these bootie beauties, head over to Fashion Toast as you will not be disappointed.

Or if you got the simple mid heel boot down, then why not take a page from (my other favourite boot tooting blogger) Karen B. from Where Did You Get That. She does sparkly, animal print and vintage oh so well.

I am a big fan of this style. I think they are super comfy, stylish all while adding a couple extra centimetres to the height (which in my case is very much needed). I think with the festival season that is very much underway, these mid heel boots are the per-fect accessory. Rough and tough for any weather and will protect you from the lamest mosher.

Damn, Tommy Ton does it again. Here are some picture that he took at the recent Watch The Throne concert in NYC. He basically has the best seat in the house if his pictures are anything to go by.

I don't know what to be in awe of more, the amazing (amazing!) photography, or what Kanye West is wearing. A bit of both perhaps. Sooooo good!

DIY: REVAMPED NEON JEWELLERY

Well hello there, I am back again with some DIY action.
I was a little uninspired lately to be DIY'ing anything, as I was just repeating more tassle jewellery like here and here.

But after a long needed catchup with my blog roll, I stumbled upon Geneva's (from A Pair & A Spare) neon jewellery DIY. Its so simple, anyone could do this. And it really is the best way to revamp some old jewellery you have lying around. I took this DIY to revamp my old silve (not real) jewellery that I had that was starting to lose its silver coating. Perfect really.

I think this DIY really pops with jewellery that has a lot of texture in it. If not it would be quite flat. So take Geneva's advice and go for some cheap costume jewellery or what I have done and went for a Day of the Dead Mexican ring (bought from Diva aaaaaages ago for like $5).

FOR THE DIY TUTORIAL HEAD TO A PAIR & A SPARE, LIKE NOW.
Its as simple as laying down some paper (works better than plastic bag, as the plastic sticks to the jewellery I found) and spray away. Always put a coat of white first, then spray on your choice of neon colour.

Now, I had to venture to Butter Beats to get my spray paint - cause Lincraft didn't have any. But I struck up a really cool conversation with the guy there. I was really hesitant to buy spray paint from Bunnings (for all the toxic matter) but my friend at Butter Beats reassured my worries. So on to the final product.

NEWMUSICMONDAY: ASHERRORTH, THEWEEKND, YOUTHLAGOON, FLEETFOXES

Ho Ho Ho.
How was your Christmas?? Now if you're reading this, then you're probably not fighting the masses in trying to grab yo'self a bargain. (Unlike me..I'm tempting my sanity and have headed to a shopping mall for an all out brawl for the best bargains!) I have had some inside goss and think I have sussed out all the best bargain :)

On to some music.

1. ASHER ROTH - COMMON KNOWLEDGE

I honestly thought Asher Roth would take off like wildfire in Australia. I think his style of hip hop is very close to that of Australian Hip Hop. But maybe its not just his time yet... But I unfortunately will not wait around to hear new stuff. And this song is a primary reason why. Common Knowledge hits every criteria for me. Sick beats, classic Asher Roth melodies and a cool video clip :)

2. THE WEEKND - NEXT

I don't think I can rave about The Weeknd more than I already have in my past posts. I really like the way Abel Tesfaye makes music. And the fact that he is only 21 and has already come out with three mix tapes (that the internet knows off, who knows how many more are lying around...) goes to show that this dude is going to have a long career. Some might argue that his stuff doesn't differ across his albums, that they stay the same. But I think when you have created (or helped propel) a new genre like this synth/RnB/alternative/lo-fi stuff, then maybe people should be a little less critical? My opinion.. whats yours??

3. YOUTH LAGOON - DAY DREAM

Come one, how can you not love this song. Its super chilled and has enough of a rhytm/beat to tap your foot too. Perfect Boxing Day chillax song :) I wrote about Youth Lagoon over yonder. And I think I should make some serious investment into more of their stuff. Its simple and pretty. Like I said, a perfect band to past the time with.

4. FLEET FOXES - SIM SALA BIM

Enough is enough. I always love Fleet Foxes stuff but don't own any of their albums. And one of my purchases today just has to be their new one; Helplessness Blues and rummage around Rockinghorse for their first EP (self titled Fleet Foxes). I am a big nerd for folky pop music. Other similar artists include Husky, Mumford & Sons, Boy & Bear etc etc... First of all I love this song just cause of its title! Ha! But I love how Fleet Foxes just build this song from really soft... to then BAM! to such a powerful chorus :) And that guitar work.... so so so good. I just want to get up and get dancing.

AND THATS IT FOR TODAY LOVELY PEOPLE.

Cause Buble and Christmas carols just make everything better. Even when the ham and turkey is burnt, and your young cousin has decided to open his/her presents - as well as yours.

2. HAVE A LOOK AT SARGASSO SEA'S "LANDING" PHOTOSHOOT.

This was the photoshoot that I assisted on a week ago. It was really one of the best days :)

1. SLEIGH BELLS - BORN TO LOSE

I added a link to this new one from (one of my favourite duo) Sleigh Bells on Sunday on A+D FACEBOOK. And like I mentioned on Sunday - this new one is B-RILL RILL-IANT (get it??? get it???) and way to excited for the new album Reign of Terrors (out on Valentines Day 2012). I don't know why I am infatuated with the Sleigh Bells. I picked up their first album Treats back in 2010 on a massive whim after hearing Infinity Guitars - but I got sucked straight in. I think their fresh sounds and brilliant mix of Alexis' high voice and Derek's complicated and heavy production all makes for an exciting cocktail for the ears (or as Wikipedia cites the sound as American Noise Pop). But if you don't dig feedback noise and machine gun blasts to be included in your music tracks.. then give this one a miss people.

2. OUTASIGHT - LETS GO

Outasight was my first Youtube introduction. I first heard his stuff through Breaking NYC Show, and ever since them I am a big big big fan. And a fan of this song. How can you not be. It has some sick lyrical work and a really catchy chorus. Hopefully I get to catch an Outasight gig when I head to NYC next year. Outsight & Wax would be a huuuuuge coo for me to catch live.

3. MIIKE SNOW - DEVIL'S WORK

Ahhh... Miike Snow - how I love your work. This song really reminds me of Coldplay for some reason. And seeing as Coldplay is moving towards a newer sound, then perhaps its cool for Miike Snow to be going for that pop/rock/alternative game. I do love my Miike Snow, especially Animal. So I am quite intrigued to see if the new album equals to tour dates. Cause that would be very very very exciting!

4. LANA DEL RAY - BORN TO DIE

Alright, so surely this track is not new to a lot of ears, especially cause the video clip caught like wild fire over the internet. I am not so sure why... I think the video clip was okay.. nothing amazing. But what you can't fault though is Lana Del Ray's singing (and pouty lips!). This is a brilliant Lana Del Ray track.. definitely better than Video Games (not a crazy fan of that one either, my favourite LDR tracks are Hundred Dollar Bill & Kill Kill). So it would be interesting to see how LDR's career tracks.. especially cause it seems like every single she comes out with is heavy and deep. There is only so much heavy and deep one can take. Surely.

5. MICHAEL BUBLE - SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
As it is nearly approaching Christmas, it is only fitting that I include a Christmas track. And though this song isn't new, it is my favourite (!!!!!!) Christmas song/carol. Add a little Michael Buble lovin, makes this song my favourite for the week!!! His big band take on the song is so so so awesome. And I really love his video clips - very Singing In The Rain :)

FUTURISTIC WOODLANDS // BEHIND THE SCENES

Heyyyyy Hoooooo, Heyyyyy Hoooo.
So, I had the pleasure to join the incredibly talented (and super nice) BB from Sargasso Sea on their Planet Kepler shoot this past Saturday. I practically stalk on Sargasso Sea and their unique aesthetic. Plus these girls are hilarious and add a breath of fresh air in the whole blogging world :)

It was a brilliant day, filled with glitter, DIY fashion and expensive clothes. Team that with a beautiful location and incredible photographer in Ben Robinson and his assistant Dave, and you have one surreal shoot. Believe it or not, aliens stranded in woodlands makes for some beautiful images.

The shoot featured some Foxton Danger, Carla Zampatti, Reverse Garbage, BlackMilk, various vintage finds and one amazing jacket by fashion student Kathleen (check out below). I helped out with hair and makeup and assisted in some styling. My favourite moment was attempting to recreate glittery lips and having to crouch down whilst holding up a makeshift corset. Oh the life... But I think mostly, it was just really cool to hang out with new friends and some really talented people.

I absolutely love this last shot of Ben and Dave. It reminds me of the Vogue editorial featured at the end of The September Issue, where Grace Coddington captured the documentary team in a colour blocking fashion shoot.

NEWMUSICMONDAY: LUPE FIASCO, BIBIO, RAY CHARLES, AZEALIA BANKS, VIRGINS

New new new Music Music Music Monday Monday Monday.
Lets get straight to it ;)

1. BIBIO - DON'T SUMMARISE MY SUMMER EYES

Such a sweet title :) Gotta love some new Bibio action. My other including this one and this one, and I am glad that they are continuing to make some sweet instrumentals. A fresh start to this week's NewMusicMonday.

2. RAY CHARLES' WHAT I'D SAY - BOBBY C SOUND TV REMIX

Now I know this title looks super duper lame.. remixing a classic - really??? I heat you say. But seriously. If you love the old stuff as much as I do, these remixes are GOLDEN! Especially when this track belongs to a whole album of remixed oldies - as compiled for Ghetto Funk Icons The Icons Vol 2. My other favourites on that album is the The Who's Who Are You remixed and the American Woman remix :)

3. LUPE FIASCO - LUPE BACK

So this song is very much separate/different from his much earlier stuff like Kick, Push. With more of a political theme to his newer stuff, Lupe Fiasco is back with a vengeance. His new mix tape Friend of the People is raw, edgy, angry and realllllyyyyyy good. Both lyrically and production wise. Its fresh. I like it best when AudioCred discusses Lupe's new stuff:

"Cynicism has always separated Lupe from the rest of rap. While some rappers may revel in the modern day miracles that are the iPhone and Jordan sneakers, Lupe takes Apple and Nike customers out to the woodshed.

[...] Lupe, depending on whom you ask, is either the most prophetic or pretentious MC in the game. Either way, he’s the only rapper I know who spits like a parent reading over their child’s Christmas list."

This mix tape goes above and beyond in proving that Lupe, when left to his own devices, produces much more talented work than what he produces in a recording studio. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Lupe in general.. but I just love this new, raw Lupe better :)

4. AZEALIA BANKS - 212

Oh yep. Newwwwww favourite artist! Azealia Banks is repeating on my iTunes a llllll this week. She is definitely stepping up the game for female rappers. Thought I appreciate rappers like Nikki Minaj, I aint a fan. But throw some Nikkiya, Azealia Banks, M.I.A or Santigold into the mix and I am your best friend. A recent graduate from the prestigious La Guardia Performance Arts School, Banks is one serious rapper, and lets not forget her sickkkkk voice (reminds me a lot of Nikkiya in the singing part) - she is definitely going on my "To Watch for 2012" list. And seriously, that Lazy Jay track she raps on is just so infectious. A very good summer track to blast when you're feeling a little down. I left the video there, to show how real/normal Azealia looks. Thank god for no pink hair, fake lashes or outrages costumes.

5. VIRGINS - DOLPHINS
"CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE TRACK"
Aaaahhh... lets chill out this post from all the hip hop heaviness, with some amazing new LoFi by Virgins. I love how they started as a band, for that you can click this article here. Its exactly what you want to listen to on a chill late night on the weekend. It has almost put me to sleep quite a few times cause of how soft and dreamy this track is. I am very much excited to hear more from Virgins. And you know whats even better, Virgins are putting up their album for sale on their band camp for "whatever you are willing to pay for price". Seriously good music at whatever you want to pay is a win in my book. Yay for new music.

I have been writing like crazy these past couple of days, so definitely look forward to some new content a little bit more consecutively this week. But I don't want to be tooooo content heavy, so we shall still spread it out nicely :)

TRENDY: POLKA DOTS

How are you lovely people this fine Wednesday? I am fabulous. Spotty and fabulous ;)
I am here today with another TRENDY post. And I am sure we all saw this one coming.

The polka dot.

Its simple, classic and very feminine. But this hasn't stopped the men in sporting these in a very stylish way! Marc Jacobs the classic polka dot a revamp in his Spring/Summer 2011 show and since then its been sported by many good people looking for a timeless yet striking look.

Is also one of the most flattering of prints. It covers and hides a lot of bumps and ... more bumps ;)

I am slight more than obsessed with this Gorman Spring collection. I am coveting that sheer white top with the polka dot sleeve and the cream polka dot pants :)

This season it seems, that the classic black and white polka dot is what seems to be in vogue. Weather its double polka dot, or mixed with some other pop colours (like the cobalt blue shorts below) I have also seen some mix their B&W polka dot mixed with leopard. Not trust me, it looked gooooooood!

And if you can't commit to a complete head to toe polka dot look like below, opt for either a pair of sheer polka dot stockings or the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy's above (available through Solestruck or Jeffrey Campbell online). ORRRRR the beautiful! Victoria Secret polka dot rucksack below. Although I do believe that this lovely is sold out. Sad face.

I think looks the best and on trend if you pick a fresh mix of colours. Like the Marc Jacobs top as worn beautifully by Blake Lively for Glamour Magazine. Its sheer (yay!) and all white. Perfect for summer 2011. Or the mix of red and white polka dot socks as worn by super cool dude in the last photo :) Another way to update the polka dot (cause if you're like me, we're probably raiding our op shops for polka dots from days gone by) is to mix prints. Like I mentioned above, when I saw the lovely lady mixing polka dot and leopard, I was like damn! Girl knows how to mix and match, and it really just transformed the two trends to another level. Or even notice (below, Blake Lively) how the green snake print boots mixes really well with the blue and white polka dot sox. It just works.

So let mix it up a little and get your polka dot one. But I tell you one thing you should try and avoid.... looking like Minnie Mouse :) Good luck!

NEWMUSICMONDAY: UNOUOMEDUDE, YOUTHLAGOON, CHIDDYBANG, HOODIEALLEN

I look out and its cloudy, cool and looking like its about to pour down torrentially.
And I think my picks for this week's NewMusicMonday is quite appropriate to the weather.

If you don't dig indie and floaty tunes, than unfortunately (no seriously, unfortunate for you) today's post is not for you. But on the other hand if you are open to new sounds, some that take repeat listening and you are ready to be taken on a airy journey, than today's music picks are perfecto. All except for Hoodie Allen & the Chiddy Bang pick ;) You gotta get some more energy rising tracks to get your out of the rain funk.

So enjoy.

1. UNOUOMEDUDE - ISLAND SUMMER

Lets be honest, UNOUOMEDUDE 's Island Summer is pretty catchy. And so is his artist name - UNOUOMEDUDE pron; You Know You Owe Me Dude. Haha, I like it. Actually if you're digging the idie low-fi vibe, then definitely would urge you to check out the rest of his songs over at his Facebook Page, my other favourite of his is Buildings :) "Your hair smells like lemons..."

2. YOUTH LAGOON - JULY

Its pretty deep/dark, depending on how you see a glass of milk. But Youth Lagoon's track July is so uber pretty. Its very chill. It reminds me a little of James Blake but less synth machine. Youth Lagoon is one dude and his music room hailing from Boise, Indiana (yeah, I have no clue either). But you don't need to know his geography to appreciate a bit of Youth Lagoon Lovin.

3. CHIDDY BANG - RAY CHARLES

I've always been a fan of Chiddy, but I do think his last album was a little more "miss" than "hit". But judging from this single, his new album is set to pretty amazing. So I am very excited. This song really takes me back to like early 2000s - I imagine bright pop bubblegum like video clip to go with the track :) And come one, how can you not love the horns in the chorus...

4. HOODIE ALLEN - JAMES FRANCO

"Fraaaan - Coooooo... Fraaaaan - Cooooo"
This song is just a little too infectious. With Hoodie Allen sampling two different songs in various parts of the song, its kind of a perfect track to set off the light airy music above. And the James Franco grab at the end of the track is HILARIOUS. Hoodie Allen is a huge Youtube sensations as he has some pretty funny video clips to go with this equally funny music. So if you're stuck inside shielding from the rain, then I suggest boarding the Youtube train :)

^^^^ Hahah, I didn't plan to have the last two tracks to be names after other celebrities.

I'm really keen to dive into the new Boy & Bear album, especially as it won out at ARIAS (Australian Recording Industry Award Show) - I loved their With Emperor Antartica, so I'm excited for this one.

Oh heyyyyyyyyy....
So a friend of mine recently shared with me one of the most amazing application for the the computer. Especially amazing for those who have a love of photography - I introduce to you The Poladroid! You can make polaroids out of images you already have. Long gone are the day of me trying to fix and bring back from the dead my Limited Edition Spice Girls iZone Polaroid Camera..

Simply drag the photo and drop it on the polaroid camera and you just wait till it spits out your own digitally enhanced polaroid image. OR!!!! You can shake the image like a polaroid picture and watch it develop faster :)

Here are my first test photos, I do love the effect :)

Hello, hello! How are we all?? What a scorcher of a weekend ey,
It was soooooo hottttt - but to cool down I headed to the markets and splurged on some festival wear. What did you do this weekend??

To celebrate today's somewhat acceptable weather (this is pending, cause I haven't gone outside since walking into my air conditioned office this morning haha...) lets have some newwwwwww music!!
Also, how did you like the Friday roundup - shall we make it a regular thing?? I'm making it a regular thing.

1. WASHINGTON - HOLY MOSES

Holy Moses indeed. I am in love with this song this week, partly because of how amazingly fabulous this video clip is. Washington is a downright chameleon. She looks amazing in just about everything. And this video clips is no different. Theoretically, greasy grungy bob mixed with smoked out black eye with a bit of gold running through it on a pretty pale complexion doesn't sound too fantastic. BUT IT WORKS. And you could say the same for the song with its hilarious inclusion of the kazoo. I love it, and its intriguing me to check out the whole album.

2. CHILDISH GAMBINO - SUNRISE

Childish Gambino - a triple threat. Actor, Comedian and Rapper. Gambino kills its for me in this track, I have been playing and replaying it like a crazy lady. The chorus and the "aaaaaah" is so infectious especially when paired up with the sickkkkkk beat! I think its one of the handful of songs on Gambino's album Camp that really shows off his real talented word play:

"That's that 20/20 hindsight

My shit be jackson, jordan, bolton, keaton, tyson: 5 mikes"

I just realllllly like the chorus, really relating to it at the moment ;) Its also very Kanye this song, which might have something to do with me obsessing over Camp.

"Hey, what it do bitch? Why these other rappers do shit stupid?

3. NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - DO YOU LOVE ME

So, this song has been played over and over again on Triple J airwaves, as the Straight To You (Nick Cave Tribute Concerts) rapped over the week. And the original track is as dark, grinding and melodic as the cover. And again what sold it to me was Nick Cave's brilliant dancing in the video clip. If only I could pull off that much pelvis movement. I have been a fan of Nick Cave only recently, and I am starting to realise (especially with all his work spanning The Bad Seeds and Grinderman) that I need to expand my collection of Nick Cave'ness.

4. EMINEM FT PINK - WONT BACK DOWN (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 THEME)

Lets be honest when you see both the name Eminem and Pink in the same sentence, it would be hard to resist from snorting. But when you see that its followed by "...collaborate on the theme for Mission Impossible 4.." then you're like ah cool. And thats exactly what the song is like. My first impression of the song is I kinda dig it, cause originally I thought the soulful vocals belong to Alicia Keys, but no no no. Its super cool Pink! And she pretty much makes the song for me... towards the end when its just Eminem, it gets a bit boring. Liking this song 100% is mission impossible.

5. HANDSOME BOY MODELING SCHOOL - THE TRUTH

Oh man... crushing on this girls voice so much!!! Its like so smooth and pitch perfect, I need to find out who it is. And this is probably one of the best band names!!! What I like about this song is its all chilled and then all of a sudden at about 2:50 you hear the beginning of really good rap verse. Technically this song isn't so new - its actually from the late 90s. But when I first heard it and without knowing the back story, this song still sounds very relevant (even after 11 years later), which just shows the talent of Handsome Boy Modelling School members; Dan the Automator and Prince Paul. A little about H.B.M.S:

Handsome Boy Modeling School was a conceptual hip hop duo that parodied and acted as a commentary on vain, consumerist,materialistic, and self-absorbed members of upper class society, such as supermodels and people from old money. The pair often satirized upper class snobbery and perceived beauty. (THANK YOU WIKI).

And thats all I have for you this week folks, a nice mixture up there - but I do feel I am losing touch with the POP world.. so I am going to have to immerse myself in more of that this coming week. In saying this, if the ARIAs believe that GOTYE is POP, then maybe I'm not so lost..

1. RIZZLE KICKS - DOWN WITH THE TRUMPETS

I have been obsessed with their album Rizzle Kicks, its English amazingness.

2. EP BY EASTON PEARSON

One of Brisbane's biggest fashion exports, Easton Pearson "EP by Easton Pearson" has some of the most amazing clothes. Its really that bohemian, preppy look I am lusting after for the summer period ahead.

3. DIY INSPIRATION THANKS TO SARGASSO SEA

The amazingly talented ladies at Sargasso Sea just completed another self styled shoot, and I am loving their fruity sunglasses. These are such an amazing addition to your summer outfit, adding a touch of trendy to that comfortable festival gear. Head to your local op shop, grab a pair of round sunglasses and print out fruity images and stick em on. Et Voila, the more economical way to stay in touch with this year's biggest trend of tutti fruity.

Halelujah! The internet is back on again, and what better to celebrate it than a brand spanking NEWMUSICMONDAY!

I have some cool tunes for you gang, and I hope you get to reinvigorate your music playlist with a couple of these gems :) And remember I am always keen to hear from you and your suggestions for songs, cause as much as I love my muss, I am always on the hunt for fresh and new tracks and artists.

1. THE BLACK KEYS - LONELY BOY

The intro to this song really gets my heart pumping and my foot tapping. The brand new single from The Black Keys' upcoming album (El Camino) is fast, catchy and soulful. Makes me wonder what the rest of the album sounds like :) But we will have to wait till December for that sweet 70s goodness. I am not sure why (maybe my Dad's influence) but I have always been drawn to that grungy 60s / 70s sound, ala Black Keys, Kasabian, The Battles. Black Keys to me, have some of the best music videos as well, and this one is no different. Enjoy... :)

2. BASEMENT JAXX - HEY YOU ft ROBYN

So, when I heard this song first, I thought heck yessssss!!! A brand new sound that is really different and not really copied across genres. But in actual fact, this song is about five to six years old and very largely samples Fanfare Ciocarlia, which after a little research, and my mother, tells me that is a staple Latin song covered and interpreted by many. The song came to my attention after an Ikea used it in one of their ads. But I think using Robyn in it, just makes it a little more contemporary. I love it.

3. ONE ROOM - I WANT YOU

First of all, YAY! This sort of sound of alternative RnB/Soul kind of music is really taking off, especially since I heard one of my favourite!!!!! Frank Ocean songs being played on Triple J yesterday. Man, I hope he tours Australia, or the very least gets on the lineup for a festival. One Room is very much part of the whole Odd Future / The Weeknd movement. And if you don't like that sound, you're not gonna like One Room's I Want You. I am in love with it. It definitely isn't anywhere near the amazingness that is The Weeknd or Frank Ocean, but its still awesome in its own right.

4. THE ADAMSKI KID - JE VUE UNE CASSETTE DE BOWIE

I am so happy I found The Adamski Kid. They vibe and energy is so awesome. And the leading dude's style is wickeedddddd. I say wicked, cause they are English. The translation of the song basically means "I want a Bowie cassette" - and if a David Bowie cassette can spawn this, then I too vue une cassette de Bowie.

5. DAS RACIST - RELAX

Legit one of my favourite artists and albums at the moment. This is the title track from New York hip hop outfit Das Racist. And dudes will be here for Big Day Out, and I am sooooo pumped. You might have heard of the guys Das Racist before, with their song Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell - a joke apparently. But I am glad their EP isn't. Partly produced by Diplo, this album is sick if you love this East Coast hip hop. There are some other amazing tracks on the album too, if you have time - go have a look at Michael Jackson, Happy Rappy and The Trick.

6. RIZZLE KICKS - DOWN WITH THE TRUMPETS

Its so so so so so good. Plain and simple. Taking it real easy with some killer sampling, and the boy's voices don't hurt either - so deep and matured for a pair of English boys who are respectively 19 - 20 years old. For such a young pair, Rizzle Kicks know their shizz when it comes to clean hip hop, and the rest of the album (Stereo Typical) isn't bad either. So I am keen to get a hold of that soon!

And thats it for now peoples. There was a lot of heaviness and hip hop in this post, but hopefully we can soften it up next week :)

Holy Holly Throsby.
Its been a while. Well you can blame university and the Sunday storm session for that. The mighty thunder and lightning ruined - nay destroyed - my modem, resulting in no internet.

Currently at a cafe near my house borrowing their wifi to bring you a message. An intermediary message.
For now A+D is on a semi summer break, till when I get back the internet - which should be fairly soon - a couple of days give or take.

NAILS: CHOCOLATE GLITTER

GLITTER NAIL LAYERING - ITS SO SPRING ;)
And, I have the most delicious combo of nail colours for it. Literally looks like a chocolate you would get from Darrel Lea either during Christmas or Easter.

Its simply a combination of a warm taupe'y brown (BYS Taupe $4.99) and a glittery nail polish from a pharmacy bargain bin (I love me some pharmacy bargain bins...). The key to choosing the perfect glitter to layer on other polishes, is to choose one with a clear polish base where the glitter has been added to it; rather than a glitter nail polish with a coloured base - cause that shizz just wont layer, I can tell you that for free.

** I love that these pictures have a real 90s MTV vibe to them hahah...

DIY TIP: If you have some glitter lying around the home (and as a pro DIY'er you probably do) just add that, very very carefully, into a pot of clear nail polish. Shake it like a polaroid picture and et voila you have your very own customised glitter polishh.

But for those who would rather not have glitter flying all over the place, Sportsgirl has an amazing set of gold and silver glitter polish for only $7.95. The glitter is nice and chunky with perfect little rounds of gold or silver. And they are really chic just painted straight on to the nail.

Oh my, Oh hi.
Do I have plenty of new music loving for you!
*ps I completely own the non existent of last week's - the schedule is just getting a little too hectic. However this week there are some songs, that I cant go past letting you guys know about them.
So, lets begin.

1. SPANK ROCK - CAR SONG

Can it get any more dashing than the pairing of Spank Rock and Santigold. Its music to my ears, literally. Always have been a huge fan of Santigold (even when she was Santagold) but I have only recently been introduced to the stylings of Spank Rock.. and I am loving what he is putting down. Hope you do too.

2. THE WEEKND - INITIATION

Oh hell to the yes. The amazingly talented The Weeknd is back with another edgy but wonderful track. I vow that this summer I am literally just going to be sitting around and just listening to the words in The Weeknd's songs. They are all really poetic and have double meaning, which gives this cool extra layer to the songs. I love it when (if you're like me) have songs on repeat but each time you find a new rhythm, or lyric or chord that makes you go "Damn... I didnt realise that bit before".

3. HERMITUDE - SPEAK OF THE DEVIL

I really cant resist a good song that includes a sing-a-long part to it. And this one has one of the best. Hermitude is also a new addition to my musical repertoire and I cant wait to discover more of their stuff. I really love this track, its been on repeat on my iTunes the whole day today :)

4. YUNA - COME AS YOU ARE (Nirvana cover)

Man, its been a while since I have this consumed and obsessed about an artist/band. And this time the dramatic love for music comes to you via the beautiful, stylish and talented Yuna. I am really liking the cover of this song... she's able to modernise it but also keep the 90s grunge.

Yuna hails from (my hometownnnnn!!!) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After some stints and gigs in KL with the prevailing Malaysian indie scene, Yuna caught the attention of New York Record Label: Fader. And thank god she did. Cause her stuff is bloody amazing. I love (like LOVE!) that she sings beautifully in both Malay and English. If you feel adventurous, I urge you to go check out two of her Malay tracks - my favourites at the moment: Penakut & Gadis Semasa

5. ELLESQUIRE - ON THE PROWL

Ah, nice. A bit of Australian Hip Hop action. Always up for that on a NewMusicMonday. This song is hilarious (Listen out for the Hilltop Hoods bit). Just sit back, close your eye and listen to the lyrics - and you will completely relate to it. Either you're Ellesquire or someone who's had to watch what happens in the song.. ;)
Ellesquire is still a little new on the Aust. Hip Hop scene, but if he keeps going with this smoothness, I don't doubt his ability to break it.

6. CONNER YOUNGBLOOD - MONSTERS

This lovely man sort of came out of nowhere for me. But I am glad he did. Hailing from Texas, Mr. Conner Youngblood (not sure if its real.. if the name is real..that is awesome) has the coolest braids and some addictive songs. The other track I am loving being Australia. This song gives it all in my opinion. Great voice.. a nice addition of an eclectic instrument (the banjo) and killer beats. BANJOS & DUBSTEPS. Who would have thought...

7. FILUR - WIELDING LOVE FT DANIEL AUGUST

I am loving Daniel August's vocals on this track, and his drawing of the words just make it that much more sexier. And Filur's beats help a helluva lot too. I think this track is a hit or miss for most people - so what do you think? Digg it? Or could you do without it??

8. JUSTICE - NEWLANDS

When I first heard the song (so the intro..) I was like oh man... is this some sort of inspirational, time lapse sound track. But then the beat hits and its all good again :) I am really digging a lot of Justice's tracks from his new album Audio, Video, Disco. I am definitely contemplating getting the album.

I HAVEN'T REALLY MUCH TO SAY ON THIS DREAM OF A TREND EXCEPT THAT I AM LOVING IT. AND ITS GOING TO BE HUUUUUUGE.

DECONSTRUCTED FASHION, TOPS, COATS, JACKETS, SHIRTS, PANTS, SHORTS - You name it, Deconstruction is the word. I love it.

YOU COULD EVEN DRAW COMPARISON OF THIS TREND TO A MULLET. Depending on your social setting, business at the front and party in the back!

Taking a cue from the weather, us Aussies probably wouldn't be able to rock the coat/jacket version of these lovelies - but hey nothing is stopping us/me from making and then rocking some deconstructed action.

Literally take two matching (or if you're daring unmatching) fashion garment of your choice, disect it length ways and sew up the two parts. I wonder if I'd be game to rock a whole head to toe deconstructed look....

TRENDY: SKULLS

Skulls, Skulls, Skulls.
Oh how I wish our parents understood and commit whole heartedly to fashion trends (some say faux pas??) as we do. In saying this, I'm generalising here... I guess what I mean is.. I wish my mother understands better of fashion trends.

She's pretty partial to a lot of the things I wear and do fashion wise, but sometimes I swear she think I'm a weirdo. So wearing some skull printed leggings, while keeping my neck warm in a skull printed scarf or skull tasseled necklace is something that is really going to fly with her ;)

There has been an influx of skull printed garments and accessories this season, from the original to the duplicated.

I would like to think that Alexander McQueen got the ball rolling on the skull trend - of course the most infamous piece of skull loving is the label's luxurious Skull Scarf that come in so many delicious colours.

How are we all?? I am back with a NewMusicMonday for you. I absoluetly love doing these posts and it seems the love is very mutual ;)
Let us begin...

1. MUTEMATH - ODD SOUL

I heard this first on Triple J's Richard Kingsmill show on Sunday nights (what I would do for this man's gig on Sunday nights) and let me just say this: I had shivers running through me. This grungy dirty vintage rock sound is up there with my love for Hip Hop. I maintain that in a past life I was a 70s groupie. I LOVE THIS TRACK. AND MUTEMATH. For all my pop culture fanatics out there, you may remember MUTEMATH for their song Spotlight in the Twilight Soundtrack. If you like Kasabian, The Battles, Black Keys etc.. you are gonna love MUTEMATH's new album.

2. 360 - CHILD
360 has officially released his new album and its pretty good yo. I don't think its as strong as his last one... but there are some real gold mines in this new one. Apart from the Josh Pyke & Gossling track (which have already been featured on Triple J) my favourite song on Flying and Falling is Child. Thanks to the amazing crew at InTheMix, you can go and stream the whole album online here. Have fun and make sure to check out Child :)

3. SNAKADAKTAL - CHIMERA

Oh wow, I am so glad I decided to check this song out. This Snakadaktal track is brought to you via the awesome ladies at Sargasso Sea - we're like totally blog buddies now - and I love it. You can actually go and read Sargasso Sea's review of the Snakadaktal show here, when they came around to Brisbane. I am so glad that these kids won Triple J Unearthed (man this post is a Triple J love affair) - cause they are so deserving. This song is sooooo pretty, and the lead singer's voice has a beautiful resemblance to Florence Welch's. And I really don't mind the Peter Pan reference... Now, I have left you with the whole video up here, because its so damn amazing. I love the direction and styling of the video - Lucy Mckenderick, lady you are a genius!

4. PITCH BLACK AFRO FT BRAVO - MATOFOTOFO

This was another friend swap (seriously, if you want to swap some music - I'm into it yo).
Like in my previous NewMusicMonday, I wanted to include an eclectic mix of songs - cause it really is a more rounded view of my Itunes playlist ;) Tsotsi has an amazing soundtrack. VINTAGE TREASURE

With the new Spring comes a new wardrobe.
And on a student's budget there is only one thing to do: Op Shop. And off we went, mother and I, to trawl through racks upon racks of garments in church halls and be ripped off by volunteers at charity shops. Oh heyyyyy Vinnies.

The church's 'pre-loved boutique' was a gold mine. The prices were low and the opportunity for amazing clothes was high. The charity (pfffffftttt) shop - St. Vincent De Pauls however was a completely different story. Its kind of redundant when a charity shop sells their stuff at the same prices as retail stores. Again... I maintain - pffftttttt.

In saying this, I am very happy with my purchases. ;)

NEWMUSICMONDAY: WAX, OHLAND, LANADELRAY, ASTEROIDGALAXYTOUR, CVRBRTHRS

Its a packed house today on A+ D with songs from almost all types of genres.
So enjoy mo'n cheries.

1. THE ASTEROIDS GALAXY TOUR - MAJOR

I have been in love with The Asteroid's Galaxy Tour ever since I hear their track The Sun Aint Shining No More on the Gossip Girl soundtrack. I did a quick search and found that I love their sound. Before artists like Lykke Li or Little Dragon, The Asteroid's Galaxy Tour were my introduction to this 'European Pop' kind of sound (not to be confused with Eurovision pop - haha). T.A.G.T are a Danish band and have had their songs featured in so many different projects; the iPod Touch commercial to name one. Major is a new one off their upcoming album and I am very excited for their new one. How can you not love the horns in this song :)

2. OH LAND - TWIST

Oh Land was another friend find. My friends and I exchange music a coupe of weeks back and Oh Land was one of them. Ever since then I have had my ears open to their stuff. This song is off Oh Land's new album coming out pretty soon and this track is really cool. A little Alice in Wonderland mixed with a little Gossip/The Knife sound.

3. WAX - COINS FT EOM

Wax, Wax, Wax... where have you been all my life? Oh I know... on Youtube***. This song is just boss. Its exactly the kind of hip hop that I love. If you also love this sound and Wax then head on over to his Youtube channel for more amazing songs. And can we just talk about the genius EOM on this track as well. That synth work is amazing. Wax and EOM do a bit of work together - and these ones are my favourite from Wax's discography.

***There is a resurgence of artists who are now jumpstarting their music career by getting big on Youtube. The statistic has been bandied around that close to 90% of people listen to music on Youtube... but this usually relates to music already published. I am sure that the numbers would be quite different if the statement was X amount of people find new music/artist on Youtube. Yes, of course there are the cliche's where artists get discovered off Youtube (J. Bieb for example) but for every cliche artist that has come out of the video sharing site, there is 10 more genuine and talented artists on there. And plus, their music videos are so much more cooler.

4. LANA DEL RAY - YOU CAN BE THE BOSS

A good pop song. Catchy hook and good melody. I haven't heard much on Lana Del Ray (so you can be sure that I will be stalking this girl on the internet in a sec...) but if this song is any indication of her music, I like it. I like it a lot. "You can be the boss baby... you can be the boss". And oh my god, she is like GORGEOUSSSS! Like frikkin model worthy....

5. CVRBRTHRS - PUMPED UP THE KICKS (COVER)

Man... these boys are just sooo amazing! I have actually featured CVRBRTHRS before here. And they just get better and better. I love their take on the Foster The People track.. I like how CVRBRTHRS have striped it back a little but also mixed it up with some electronic sounds. I only have nice things to say about the CVRBRTHRS. Their Jose Gonzales cover is my chill out song, I put it on and all my stresses just fade away... with every strum.

DIY: TASSELS EARRINGS

GET THESE BEAUTIFUL MUSTARD EARRINGS INTO YOUR SUMMER WARDROBE, LIKE NOW.

WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO NEED:

TASSELS. I got mine on sale from Lincraft as part of a curtain tie (wow, my thriftyness knows no bounds).
EARRING HOOK. I chose the clasp kind, but you could just as easily use a hook - this second version if probably the easiest if you're a first time DIYer.
JEWELLERY PLIERS. Pretty much essential.
JUMP RING / LONG SILVER JEWELLERY POSTS
SCISSORS
A COOL BEAD. If you want.. I got these at Lincraft.

THE PROCESS:
CLICK THE IMAGE FOR A BETTER LOOK.

1. If you have bought the tassel as part of a curtain tie - separate the tassel from the tie.

2. / 3. / 4. Then you want to start hooking up your long silver post to the earring hook. You do this by manipulating the post around the hook. Keep twisting and bending the post to twist around the earring hook. This definitely takes a bit of effort ;)

5. Hook on the bead, if you wanted to use one.

6. Now you want to manipulate the post and hook in to the tassel. Again you want to weave in and out and twist and bend the post around itself.

7. All ready to go.

8. Now you want to just hook on the tassel part to your earring.

THE GREAT ABOUT THIS PROJECT IS THAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY MAKING INTERCHANGEABLE TASSEL EARRINGS.

SO YOU CAN JUST REPEAT THE PROCESS TO ANY COLOURED TASSEL AND JUST HOOK THIS TO THE EARRING AND AWAY YOU GO. THE PERFECT COLOUR TASSEL EARRINGS FOR ANY OCCASION.

This week its very much about new new music.
Like people you haven't might not have heard before 'new'. Ha! This week is very much about Hip Hop**. So enjoy!

1. CHILDISH GAMBINO - BONFIRE

So my main man Childish Gambino does indeed get top billing this week. Cause I am in love with this song and him. Ever since the super-knowing Dominique dropped to me that Childish Gambino is in fact Troy from Community... well lets just shizz got a little epic. Who knew the hilarious Troy/Donald Glover is also super amazing talented rhyme beast Childish Gambino. Well you do know! I am so keen for his album "Camp" to drop in November - ps get it >> Camp. Bonfire. Camp - Bonfire!

2. FRIENDS - I'M HIS GIRL

A chilled out track to make you have a breather from listening to the epic'ness of that Childish Gambino track! Ha! Nah, but seriously.. I really like this song from indie new comers Friends. Its so simple and who can argue with that beginning riff. "I'm not just another chick.. I'm his girl.."

3. MODESELEKTOR - GRILLWALKER

I think this song is a perfect mix of experimental and pop love. Its a good transition track to take you away from the Top 40 techno into more sophisticated dance stuff. And that intro with the voice over is just the icing on the cake. Modeselektor you have converted me.

4. MAVERICK SABRE - LET ME GO

After a whole week of enjoying some Jamie Woon love, I love that I found this quite similar artist. Maverick Sabre also English has one of the most interesting voices - one of those voices that gives me straight up goose bumps. I was actually going to feature his track I Need for this week (as this was the first song I found of Maverick Sabre's) but when I heard Let Me Go (when stalking the mofo on the 'Tube) I couldn't resist not sticking this one up instead. The sounds in Let Me Go (the horns... the drums.. the voice..) are some of my favourite sounds. I can tell you now this track is going to be on repeat on the way to Uni today.

5. MAC MILLER - FACE THE FACTS

Mac Miller reminds me of Lupe Fiasco and this tracks reminds me of Kick Push - but not.
Mac Miller is just a chilled Hip Hop artist, and its a great change. Enjoy whilst riding around in your hipster bike..

Another Monday, Another NewMusicMonday.
These are a little random today, but hey whats new? I have also chosen to add a 'world' track to the list today as well. I hate that genre named 'world/ethnic' - it just doesnt sound right....

But basically its cause, I wanted to share my full range of music selection. And I dont think a lot of people know this, but I love listening to songs from around the world, I dont care that I dont understand the lyrics. It doesnt bother me. I love the unique quality of and how different it is to Western music. Be it French, German, African, Indian, Korean, etc etc etc...

ON TO THE MUSIC:

1. TV ON THE RADIO - CAFFEINATED CONSCIOUSNESS.

Oh man, this is my life story at the moment.. I cant seem to start the day without a caffeinated beverage. Its usually a Mocha or Passionfruit Iced Tea. When I first heard this song I thought it was a Jack White track.. alas I was wrong. This song has tipped me over the line in regards to TV on the Radio. I really like them. In saying, I am probably a little too late to be in like with T.O.T.R - their basist unfortunately died of lung cancer, and the band isn't sure about their long term plan.

2. JAMIE WOON - LADY LUCK

I should really thank my mother for this find. I have discusses Jamie Woon before (over here). And this second single from his album, Mirrorwriting, is really really good - its like a throwback to the 90s but with a 00's edge. Jamie Woon wasn't recently signed to Polydor (huge Indie record company in the UK) and his album is gearing up to be a huge success. Fun fact about Jamie Woon - he like me is half Malaysian... REPPPPP THAT SHIZZZ.

3. BAXTER DURY - HOTEL IN BRIXTON

This is very much the random track for this post. I fund Baxter Dury during my trawl of blogs, and I really like this song - I heard some more from their album.. and not as keen. What do you make of these guys???

4. THEOPHILUS LONDON - I STAND ALONE

Ahhh... comfort zone. Theophilus London is awesome :) And his songs just keep getting better and better. Killer hook on this on too! I heard in anticipation of the second season of How To Make It In America - starring Kid Cudi. Which I am very excited to see!!!

5. SUCHITRA - DIA DIA DOLE FROM AVAN IVAN

This instrumental track comes from the Tamil movie Avan Ivan. And I love the really traditional sounds that sort of builds up to this happy and energetic drum section. I cant stop playing this song when I need a G-Up. Its perfect. And really, you cant beat Suchitra's voice.

I honestly could not believe my eyes when I saw these babies at the shoe shop at my local shopping centre (Carindale reppp). Just to entertain myself (and the girls in the store) I tried them on, and had a bit of a walk around. And they are sooooooo comfartable.

And then I saw the price, and I was sold. These babies are only $69.95!!
I can reveal now that I was actually in Pay Less Shoes. HA!
And really these are a steal, and an awesome party shoe.
COMFY, BRIGHT, AFFORDABLE. What more could I want?

They also come in a black, but why be predictable ;)

I'm off to the store tomorrow, to get get the orange ones.
Thinking these could be my 21st shoes. Not sure yet...

Not long since I talk to you... you guys seem to really enjoy the DIY Birthday Card post :)

But I am back tonight on a more musical note.

FOR SOME NEWMUSICMONDAY ACTION!

1. JAMES BLACK - LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE

I finally acquired James Blake's self titled album, and I love it. Its like a mix of John Legend (with all the brilliant vocal work) and Gotye (with the airy, psychedelic music work). And this is one of my favourite songs to bust out randomly around the house, and a favourite during shower karaoke. I can tell my mother is going to snap pretty soon in wanting me to learn the other words. But what good is that?? The best parts is "There's a limit to your love.....!" And I really love this lyric as well. Don't exactly know why, but I do. This album is definitely sing out loud approved :)

2. LIL WAYNE - PRESIDENT CARTER

Now, before you start judging... hear me out. Unsurprisingly, Jay-Z and Kanye's Watch The Throne smashed billboard records with their uber album, but statisticians and number nerds around the industry are predicting that Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter IV' is more than likely going to double the record set by the Rockafella brothers. So I was curious to hear what it was like.

So okay, 'Tha Carter' (dont get me started on the 'tha') isn't bad... but it isnt great either. One of the songs that stands out to me personally is President Carter. I love the production on the song. The use of Jimmy Carter's presidential inauguration recording is awesome. There's also a couple more featuring Busta Rhymes which I am in love with.. purely cause there is no other rapper than can rap as fast as Busta Rhymes.

3. MAYER HAWTHORNE

I stumbled upon cool dude Mayer Hawthorne when I found his newest single 'The Walk' (first one) but I am so happy that through that I found his 2009 single 'Maybe So, Maybe No'. If you liked the Raphael Saadiq that I have been posting for a while on here, you'll digg Mayer Hawthorne. I've included the two tracks to give you a feel for the dude, and hopefully your iTunes account will show him some love :)

Mayer Hawthorne based in L.A hails from Michigan and isn't actually a singer by trade. He is more of a producer and writer. But the dude he was making records for (Stones Record Label) thought he should do more. His songs have been featured on shows like Ugly Betty and in Kanye West and Spike Jonez's short film We Were Once A Fairytale.

4. COYOTE KISSES - ACID WOLFPACK

Click play if you're into the airy alternative instrumental synth stuff. If not you will not digg it. Haha!

I love how it keeps weaving in and out of real instruments and synths and then catapults into the dubstep then back to some sweet melody. Is it any wonder why its called Acid Wolfpack. Hahaha.. This was the fun weird track of the week ;)

DIY: BIRTHDAY CARDS

The extent of my thrifty-ness bears little competition. And one the stupidest things I think people pay money for are birthday cards. I would much rather you gave me the $5 cash you used to pay for the card, then the card itself.
If you're like me, you have a ton of magazines, a tumblr full of inspirational pictures, and some creativity at your fingertips ready to be turned into a more thoughtful birthday card, then the ones Hallmark designs. I keep all my birthday cards (store bought and DIY'ed) and I am sure (hope!) that my friends and family keep all the cards I make them.

The basic tools you need in making a beautiful handmade card are so affordable and guesses are; you probably already have these items lying around :)

1. IMAGES STOCK
This includes old issues of magazines (I prefer magazines like Russh, Oyster, Shop Till You Drop, Frankie, Peppermint) this is cause they mostly have white space, and item photos, as opposed to gossip magazines where its just photos of celebrities and advertisement. You could also use newspapers or even old birthday cards that other people have given you. You could also cheat a little and just print out the exact pictures you want from the internet.
Some of my favourites sites for this include Tumblr, We Heart It, Pintinterest and Tag Galaxy.

2. SHARP SCISSORS (the sharpest are fabric scissors)
3. GLUE (I like these corner ones, they make sticking so easy)
4. STRONG CARD STOCK (for the base of the card, I was lucky that I was given a whole box of stock card from my grandmother who passed down her own card making supplies to me). But I am sure you could head to Spotlight or Office works and get a box of heavy white stock for under $20.

AND AWAY YOU GO!
My process is quite methodical. I start off by folding and trimming my card to size. And have that sitting under some weight, to keep the crispness. Then I go hunting for pictures, I flicked through magazines and choose images that best relate to the receiver of the card. Make it fun, make it personable, make it memorable.

NAILS: JUNGLE FEVER

NAIL INSPIRATION BROUGHT TO YOU BY MIXING A LITTLE AUTUMN LOVE AND A LITTLE SPRING ANTICIPATION. AND SOME DIY ACTION, BUT FOR THAT SCROLL TO THE END.

Yellow and Wine/Burgundy are "the" colours of the the Fall season ahead. However us in the Southern hemisphere have Spring on the horizon; and with that comes animal print, bright colours, some colour blocking action circa 2010 even (?) So I tried to mix these to form my nail inspiration. I thought it was quite fitting as its the first day of 2011 Spring tomorrow.

I call this the perfect mix for some trans-seasonal nail wear.

DIY ELEMENT:
I know that Sally Hansen has these **weird** stick on nail things that come in a leopard print motif, but why shell out $20 when you can have the same effect without damaging your nails. All you need is some forgotten colours in your nail box/bag.
I USED:
BYS Yellow + Cheap Black from a chemist + O.P.I Chopstickingtoourstory.
(Do I know how to mix high luxe and low cheap, or what???)

&& BASICALLY ITS:
1. TWO COATS OF YELLOW/LIGHT BROWN
2. BLOB (strategically) SOME ORANGE OR BROWN
3. CAREFULLY OUTLINE THESE BLOBS IN BLACK.. But notice that I didn't go all the way around the blobs.

1. KASABIAN - DAYS ARE FORGOTTEN

Yay Yay Yay! New Kasabian track equals new Kasabian album. Which hopefully also mean Australian Tours?? Unless they get conned into a festival. :( BOO!

** Is it weird, that I really dig the chant/screaming at the intro...

2. JESCA HOOP - FOUR DREAMS

I can not thank my friend Josie enough for introducing me to the amazing Jesca Hoop. I am a fan of trading music with friends, and Josie always brings me sweet European Indie goodness in trade for my hip bop beats. We make a good partnership :) Anyway, so Jesca Hoop. Chick is under-rated! How come Triple J isn't on this girl?? I think she would make a killing here in Aust. following the footsteps of other powerful female singers; Fever Ray, Florence & The Machine, Lykke Li, Santigold etc etc etc...

Jesca Hoop used to be employed to Tom Waits (cool!) and has been writing/recording/performing since 2004. This track is from her 2009 album Hunting My Dress (the whole album is amazing) but Jesca Hoop moved to UK and recorded a newer album, came out March of this year, and its called Snowglobe. I am yet to check it out - but as soon as I do, I'll let you knw how it went ;)

I ALSO LOVE THIS TRACK FROM THE ALBUM, AND COULDN'T NOT INCLUDE IT.
It gives me shivers...

3. PNAU - BETTER WAY

I absolutely love the melody, rhythm and progression of the verses from this song. As soon as it hits the chorus.. I cringe a bit. I wished PNAU had carried through the sombre feeling throughout the song.

4. THE RAPTURE - IT TAKES TIME TO BE A MAN

So um... I am definitely getting The Rapture's new album. And tickets to their gig (their Australian tour will be starting in March, 2012).

5. POOLSIDE - HARVEST MOON

Such a chill track, and yeah can definitely see myself grooving to this in the summer holidays. :)

I actually really like this track, and am looking forwards for the song to be released. Also like that B.o.B leaked it himself at a gig... I am sure (judging by the crowds reaction to hearing Lil Wayne come in halfway through) that the people there absolutely appreciated the sneak peak.

Inspired to start a WTF People posts, from Youtuber Phillip DeFranco.
I just don't get Kreayshawn. Unfortunate for her (and her record company) the hype of these guys didn't really follow through on the back of her single (embedded below). So whilst these guys should be commended for their strong and niche branding of themselves, the songs just don't hold up against the niche image. Shizz is weakkkkk. But I'm sure that's not going to stop good old Kreayshawn from sporting badddddd 80s gear and singing ridiculous rap songs about high fashion brands.

NIKKIYA'S SPEAKHER MXTAPE: THIS ONE YOU NEED, NOW!

SO I WAS GOING TO HOLD OUT ON YOU GUYS TILL NEWMUSICMONDAY ROLLS AROUND NEXT WEEK. BUT I HONESTLY AM TOO EXCITED.

Nikkiya, is the bomb and then some! She is definitely the better version of female hip hoppers out there in the industry. Although I would definitely put her in my self-proclaimed new category of music Indie Hip Hop/RnB alongside creatives like The Weeknd & Frank Ocean etc...
(***updated: just been surfing the net, and the industry have started to call this genre Alternative RnB... cool man.)

Nikkiya's voice is like a mix between TLC and Lil Mama.
Her lyrics are just beyond genius. And her sound is most definitely unique and one that a lot of people will appreciate. Nikkiya first appeared on the 'radar' by being featured on Yelawolf's track Speak Her Sex, hence the title of the mixtape. Below are only a handful of my favourite tracks from it, just to tip you over the edge from "Hmmm.. maybe Kas" to "HELL YEAH KAS I'M SOLD!!!"

Oh wow, what an amazing morning it was yesterday!
The weather might have been gloomy, but Brisbane fashion lovers we're ready for an all out Resort and Swimwear show.

MBFF Brisbane had their Group Resort show yesterdat as part of Brisbane Fashion Week happening all this week, so head to the website get you some fashion loving tickets. Yesterday's show featured Kaftan Queens Camilla & Foxton Danger, swimwear goddess Rebecca Manning, Roopa Pemmaraju, Saucy Rose, Jets & White Sands.

I was able to get backstage and have got some awesome photos for you cool people. As per usual, Fashion Show was hectic. People yelling, running and multi-tasking like mofos. It was an amazing sight. I absolutely loved the hair and makeup, very chic and simple. My favourites on the day were definitely Foxton Danger, Camilla and Rebecca Manning. So on to the photos, I say.

INSPIRED BY THE FRESH PRINCE

I am proud to say that I recently acquired all SIX! seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I know, I know.. I'm cool like that ;)

So I'm going to put it out there, that Will Smith had the best style on the whole show. Not even fashion loving, shopping freak Hillary Banks could compete with Will's awesome style. This whole outfit actually reminds me of Prince Pelayo. I'm sure we wouldn't be surprised if he cites Will as a style inspiration... But as I was working through the episodes, last night - the below outfit in particular caught my eye.

Will had a plaid shirt wrapped around his waist, with a pair of denim shorts & finished it all off with a long white shirt and a vest.

I couldn't get the image out of my head and did some popular culture searching.. and found the below images of Mary-Kate out and about and Olivia Wilde for the cover of NYLON. BOTH ROCKING THE PLAID SHIRT AS AN ACCESSORY. I knew the outfit looked familiar...

I think it really adds a unique twist to an outfit.. turns a boring white shirt denim shorts combo into a more refined outfit. Adds a nice pop of colour as well.
I digg it. Off to get me some plaid people!

This definitely becoming more of a NewMusicMonday (every two weeks... haha)
But oh well. ON TO THE MUSICCCCCCC.
I warn you, its a little heavy this week. Not much usual light Indie tracks..

1.GRAMATIK - SO MUCH FOR LOVE

Its your regular instrumental track that you would crank up on a weekend's morning to get you G'd up for the humongous cleaning task you have ahead of you. Or at least that what I did with this song. I definitely love it enough to check out more stuff from Gramatik and I will definitely report back if I find some more interesting tracks like this one :)

2. SLIM HARPO - KING BEE

Oh my god, you have no idea how much I love this song. From the raspy tones to the really well written lyrics. Dig deeper and you'll hear Slim Harpo asking for an 8 ounce, and etc etc etc ... ;) I actually really reallllllyy want someone to remix this and bring it back to a more current audience, cause I think it would do well! Similar to maybe the I Love You track by Mr. Hudson ala Cassius, or Marlena Shaw's California Soul by Diplo.

3. AMY WINEHOUSE - IN BED

I wont lie, when I heard the news, I was absolutely devastated. I couldnt believe my ears. Well I guess I reacted similar to how most people reacted to Michael Jackson's passing. But I didnt connect with MJ... I definitely was in awe of Amy Winehouse's talent. And since then, I have been listening to both her albums... But one track pulled me back to the Winehouse bliss... this track. I love it, I hope you do too.
I hear that the last song she ever recorded, will be released ahead of schedule this year. The song was a duet with infamous Tony Bennett.

4. ROSE ROYCE - LOVE DONT LIVE HERE ANYMORE

I heard this song in the last episode of Entourage. Can we just put it out there that Entourage probably has one of the best end credits music ever. Make that bets music in a TV show period. And people are always asking me where I get my music and artists from, and telvision is definitely one of the biggest ones. The only thing about that though is that they dont necessarily tell you who sings the song.. so you gotta keep an ear out for the lyrics and google that shizz. Anyway, off track - I digg this song, its so contemporary save the really really bad synths. ;) Although I have a sneaky suspicion that the version of this song on Entourage was a cover..if it is, then the cover version has got the vocals DOWN PACT! If anyone knows please let me know :D

And lastly, I finally (YESSSSSSS!) got my hands on a copy of Watch The Throne, but bloody JB Hifi didnt have the deluxe version :( BOOOO! Its delayed apparently. But hell if I'm going to wait a month for the deluxe version. In saying that I will most definitely buy the deluxe version as well. That should give you an indication of how much I love this album. But below are my top picks from the album.

AND OF COURSE...

The album just sounds like so much fun. Like both Jay-Z and Kanye had a ball making it.
Industry insiders are calling it luke warm and over hyped. But, fans are absolutely loving the sounds from the genius collaboration.

OH WOW, YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE WEEKEND I HAVE HAD.
Splendour weekend for many, hibernation and quarantine for me. I have just gotten over (knock on wood) one of the most annoying colds ever. I don't usually get ill, so when I do, I get it hard.

But like I said, I am slowly getting over it now, which is good. Cause I dont think I could have handled it any longer. On to the musicccccccccc :)

1. COOLRUNNINGS - BRUNETTES
You know we have more fun ;) Bout damn time we got a song as well. What can I say, what a perfectly good indie pop song. I haven't heard of Coolrunnings before, but I do love their LA Coast sound. So perfect for summer. Which is going grace us down under pretty soon :) Yes, I don't understand a word their singing either and yes it does abruptly end, but hey for a song that is available royalty free... I aint complaining.

2. OVERDOZ - IT GIRL
Oh my god, when I heard this song I was in love, instantly. Cool melody, great beat, and smooth voices. It doesnt get better than this really. This song is really reminiscent of Outkast's Idlewild sound. Definitely an Andre 3000 feel. Overdoz are really riding on that Odd Future/Frank Ocean wave, and its working. I am in the process of downloading their mixtape, which you can do so as well here. I'm loving Overdoz' sound, and its definitely going to be replaying all throughout summer for me.

3. GOTYE - SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW FT KIMBRA
How can you not love this song, or this man. I absolutely loved Gotye's Like Drawing Blood and was pretty excited that he has a new one out. And this first single from the new album is very very promising. Gotye played Splendour this weekend, and Kimbra (who was also performing at the festival) joined him and performed the duet. I love this song and I can tell it will be one of those songs that you just cant get sick of. Gotye's talented like that.

4. HUDSON MOHAWKE - THUNDER BAY
Now, this song is a bit of a love hate one. You either will LOVE it or absolutely HATE it. Hence why its last on my list here. I of course, LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Its my kind of sound. If I had to describe myself as a sound it would be something like this. A bit of old sampling, new sounds and beats all finished with some killer production value. I'm excited to keep hearing more from these guys, which hello, how awesome is a name like Hudson Mohawke for a band. Killer.

Whats up, whats up...
So I am officially back to university today lovely people. Its bitter-sweet. Sweet in that this is my 2nd last semester, bitter in that it should have been my last semester.
Due to ridiculous course structures and annoying timetable'ing, I have to complete one last subject next year. Which of course through gigantic spanner in my life plan. But hey, you cant really go with the flow if you stress out about these things. But enough of that, here is some new music for your Monday ;)

1. YOUR HEART - FOZZEY & VANC
Everyone who knows me knows, that I have a very soft spot for Australian Hip Hop. When done good, it is amazing. Australian Hip Hop artists definitely have their own style and it is quite infectious. Fozzey & VanC are a new favourite find. My friend Patty said it right when he said that "Australian Hip Hop just gets better every year". This is so true. Their sample one of Mumford & Sons "White Blank Page". This is so catchy..... Your heart, hea-hea-heart...

2. HAWAIIAN AIR - FRIENDLY FIRES
Man... I love this song. The video clip is even better :) I couldn't get this song out of my head for like dayyyyysss. I totally know I am late on the bandwagon here, but I only just found out who sang this. Pretty surprised when I found out it was Friendly Fires, they definitely have a change of sound on the new album.

3. NUMBER IN ACTION - WILEY
Oh hell yes. I was so excited to see that Wiley had released a new single (from his forthcoming new album) and judging by this track, the album is going to be dope. I can honestly say that Wiley's Wearing My Rolex is one of my most favourite songs. It has been played over 500+ times on my iTunes player. And plus, anyone else think he is one of the only English rappers where you can understand everything he is saying? Or is that just me? And I'm leaving the whole video, cause its just so so good.
I'm still a fan of Michael Jackson, but now I want see numbers in action.

4. QUE SERA - WAX TAILOR
I have been singing and replaying this track like crazy all week. I cant seem to get it out of my head. The mark of a great song I guess. Wax Tailor is an amazing producer/DJ and this song just has all the elements of a great chill out Sunday afternoon track. With some amazing vocal samples and great choice of instruments, I keep hearing a different part that I love about the song, its like really hard to get sick of the song. Personally, anyway. Best enjoyed with a Sangria and your favourite magazine, book, blog, twitter feed, facebook stalk.

I came across the most amazing blog today.
And I cant seem to stop reading all the different articles. Pugly Pixel is a graphic design and personal blog of the genius who is Katrina. I suggest to cure all your nerdy graphic design and web designing cravings you should definitely need a dose of Pugly Pixel.

Her blog design alone is so cute and stunning, but its her tutorials and free photoshop giveaways is what keeps drawing me back to her. She even hosts the most helpful web and graphic design tutorials on her blog. So if you want unleash the inner nerd in you, head over to Pugly Pixel.

Adorne Viral Video

So like I had mentioned here. I have been one busy woman.
And one of the projects that I have been working on in the last two weeks is editing/creating a viral video for Adorne Fashion Accessories.

They recently opened their store at the Myer Centre Opening and I was hired to make them a viral video. I loved the way it turned out. Do you?

I absolutely love editing and creating little videos like this. Its a bit of high school Film & Television Studies that definitely has come in handy :) Oh how my teachers would be proud.

A PeaceImages Cuff...

If you want good style and good tunes, you need to head on to That Good Good Blog. I find some of my favourite hip hop and RnB songs from this lovely lady here.

And lovely she is. Dee recently hosted a giveaway on her blog and I actually was a lucky gal and won a PeaceImages Jewellery Cuff/Rings. And Camille from PeaceImages Jewellery is the most awesome and sweetest person to deal with. Online shopping gets a lot of flack, but shopping with PeaceImages Jewellery is so pleasant and easy. I could go as far as saying that it was better than non-online shopping. I definitely would reccommend you guys head over to the store STAT! (before I buy pretty much everything on there. I'm obsessed).

Camille was so thoughtful in asking me my ring size when sending me the cuff. Oh and can we just talk about my delightful surprise when I received a CD to go with my Cuff. Its a 20 track CD boasting some pretty big (and authentic) RnB artists (none of that Top 40 shizz).

It is an absolutely beautiful piece of jewellery and have been wearing it pretty much everywhere, paired with my Guess Boyfriend Gold watch, and its like the perfect Arm Party (ala Man Repeller).

So thank you, Dee & Camille. I absolutely love my gift and it definitely has that good good.

SECURED: Threaded release in mX

So I've been a busy lady.
A couple of reasons being that I have been working quite a lot. The last couple of weeks have been hectic. But I am finally seeing the fruits of my labour. And I couldn't be more excited.

My first one was a release that I was working one where I wrote about here a couple of months ago, for that click here. The release finally went to print - Woooooooooo!

I posted the same picture on my Facebook, and just got a wave of love and praise from my friends and family. That just makes the achievement ten times better. :)
